16/26 reflective blog Today I came to work immensely anxious as I knew Ian wanted me to talk on the radio for the first time, this was very difficult for me as I have bad anxiety with stuff like that so I didn't talk much but I tried at least. This being for almost my whole day other than planning my segment with DJ as today is a half day. Weeks reflection. Was it what you expected? Was there something you expected that never happened? Was there something that happened/you did that you did not expect? I expected to just shadow behind Ian the whole time just doing his job What was the best thing you did? Learning the technical side of everything What could have been better about the placement? How could the placement have been better organised? How could you also have done anything better (if anything)? I didn't think anything was wrong with the way things were handled other than a lack of communication on my schools part with times of starts and ends of the day What did you learn that will help you in future employment/life? actually being in the workplace and talking to new people despite my anxiety being quite bad

Cal's Blog - Day 2

second day of placement. learned how to import music into the system from both mp3 and disks I arrived to GBT again today not as nervous day one, i came into the building expecting to do work straight away since i had already went through plans the day before. This not being the case due to Ian needing to do important calls and the cleaner being off ill so me having to do the work. Once Ian finished he showed me how to import music from an MP3 file and how i can use CDs to import aswell. This was intresting to see the process but i enjoyed learning it nonetheless. We had then went to the the sience club in Kirk Rd GBT and set up there, we set up a few tasks for the kids to do such as guessing whats inside boxes with only sound. Once we done this the kids slowly arrived and started doing the tasks and eventually went onto doing their thing such as using their phones or playing board games like trivial persuit which i had partaken in with one of the kids and Rebecca who is another employee of the radio station.

14/26 reflective blog I'd arrived once again to GBT but today was a little different than what it was with Ian, I had Rebecca to shadow instead. Rebecca and myself had got everything on and working to start with. Then we posted my day 2 blog onto the site and we downloaded a show sent in from a radio host through a website called WeTransfer. After that we talked for a while about all the behind the scenes and technical stuff for the station to keep it operational. While we were in the middle of scheduling some shows to play over the weekend we got a surprise visit from someone who was very keen to become a radio host here who was registered blind. I found this quite cool because they knew their way around all the tech because they had been a host before. This was a long and interesting discussion to figure out where Rebecca could slot her in and what her likes and music taste is so that there could be a show made around her. After this we had we had finished our work on the Air Plan system to schedule the weekend shows to play as no one works on the weekends. As the day came to a close we talked about how much planning that goes into making a radio session possible.
